About the Position

The Mondal Lab at TIFR Hyderabad invites applications for a Project Research Scientist position on an ICMR-funded research project. The research group of Prof. Jagannath Mondal works on bioinformatics, machine learning and generative AI for biomolecular systems, supported by molecular simulation, with access to dedicated GPU and high-performance computing resources.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with experimentalists on antibody and nanobody projects, providing computational support for design and testing.
  • Perform bioinformatics analysis of antibody and protein sequences, structures and repertoire data.
  • Develop and apply deep learning, generative and predictive models to biomolecular datasets.
  • Support research using molecular dynamics simulations where required.

Eligibility

Essential:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Biophysics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or an allied discipline.
  • Demonstrated research experience in computational biology, particularly molecular dynamics simulation and bioinformatics.

Desirable:

  • Strong skills in AI/ML and bioinformatics.
  • Experience with deep learning for sequence and structural data.
  • Knowledge of generative or language models for biomolecules.
  • Experience in statistical analysis of large biological datasets.
  • Fluency in Python and familiarity with HPC clusters.
  • Good record of peer-reviewed publications.

Fellowship & Tenure

Fellowship: INR 56,000 per month + 30% HRA, as per ICMR norms.
Tenure: 1 year + 1 additional year, subject to performance.
