7. Core Job Responsibilities:
-Advanced Microbial & Adventitious Agent Testing Sterility & Mycoplasma Testing: Overseeing specialized testing for Mycoplasma (USP <63>), which is a critical requirement for cell culture-based biologicals.
-Bioburden Management: Monitoring bioburden at various stages of upstream (fermentation/cell culture) and downstream (purification) processes. 
Viral Safety: Coordinating or reviewing results for viral clearance studies and ensuring no adventitious viruses are present in the bulk harvest.
-Environmental Monitoring (EM) in Aseptic Processing Aseptic Suite Oversight: Managing EM for high-consequence areas where biologicals are formulated and filled (Grade A/B). Media Fill (Process Simulation): Leading the microbiological aspect of Aseptic Process Simulations (APS) to prove that the filling line can produce sterile biologicals without contamination.
-Disinfectant Efficacy (DET): Validating disinfectants specifically against "in-house" isolates found in the biologics manufacturing facility.
-Utility & Raw Material Qualification WFI & Pure Steam: Strict oversight
of Water for Injection (WFI) and Pure Steam (used for SIP-Sterilization In Place) to ensure zero endotoxin and microbial growth.
-Cell Bank Qualification: Ensuring the "Master Cell Bank" (MCB) and "Working Cell Bank" (WCB) are free from contaminating microbes.
-QMS & Global Regulatory Compliance
-Data Integrity (ALCOA+): Ensuring all microbial counts and growth patterns are recorded with absolute integrity, as biological deviations are scrutinized heavily by the USFDA and EMA.
-OOS & Deviations: Leading complex investigations into microbial excursions. In biologicals, a single "mold" or "fungal" hit in a Grade A area can lead to the rejection of an extremely expensive batch.
-Audit Leadership: Defending the Microbiological Control Strategy during international audits,  specifically explaining the rationale for sampling frequencies and alert/action limits.
