Position Overview:
StrainX looking for highly motivated and experienced scientists to join our Strain Development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and optimizing strains for various applications, including fermentation, protein production, and metabolite synthesis. Depending on experience, candidates may be considered for Research Scientist, Senior Research Scientist, or Principal Scientist roles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute experiments for the development of fungal and/or yeast strains for improved productivity, stability, and performance.
- Apply genetic engineering techniques (e.g., CRISPR, homologous recombination) to modify and optimize fungal and yeast strains.
- Develop and implement screening assays to identify strains with desired traits.
- Optimize metabolic pathways for enhanced production of target compounds (e.g., proteins, enzymes, metabolites).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including fermentation, process development, and analytics, to ensure successful scale-up of strains.
- Mentor and train junior scientists (Senior/Principal Scientist levels).
- Stay current with scientific literature and advancements in fungal/yeast strain development.
- Prepare and present scientific data at internal meetings and conferences.
- Author technical reports, research articles, and patent applications.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Microbiology, Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with a focus on fungal/yeast systems.
- 3-10+ years of relevant postdoctoral or industry experience (level will be determined based on experience).
- Fresh Ph.D. or MTech with significant relevant experience can also apply for the position
- Hands-on experience with genetic manipulation techniques in fungi/yeast (e.g., Pichia pastoris, filamentous fungi).
- Strong expertise in strain engineering, metabolic pathway optimization, and fermentation processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
