1. Position: Consultant (Microbiology and Fermentation Professional)
2. Location: Bhatinda, Punjab Periodic travel to TERI, Gurugram. Division: Sustainable Agriculture
3. Key Responsibilities:
a. Oversee microbiology based activities at production facility for biogenic Synthesis.
b. Extensive knowledge of fermentation process and support for batchwise production activities.
c. Maintain bacterial cultures and ensure stringent quality control (QC) throughout production batches.
d. Perform routine microbiological techniques including streaking, subculturing, and maintenance of bacterial cultures on solid and liquid media.
e. Conduct bacterial growth curve analysis (OD-based and/or CFU-based) to monitor growth kinetics, optimize inoculum preparation, and ensure batch-to-batch consistency in fermentation.
f. Carry out morphological, physiological, and basic molecular assessments of bacterial cultures to confirm purity, identity, and performance.
g. Monitor culture health, contamination, viability, and stability during scale-up and production stages.
h. Maintain detailed batch-wise records, including media composition, incubation conditions, growth parameters, and QC observations.
i. Document all procedures, observations, deviations, and results in a systematic, traceable, and auditable manner.
j. Ensure all activities comply with institutional biosafety, quality, and regulatory standards; assist in drafting SOPs, approval formats, and QC checklists for proposed production work.
k. Coordinate with the TERI, Gurugram facility through periodic visits for protocol alignment, QC validation, and reporting.
l. Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor
4. Educational Qualification:
-B.Tech or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, or a related sciences discipline with a good academic record.
-Proven hands-on experience on the mentioned domains.
5. Experience:
1-2 years of relevant hands-on experience in microbiology, microbial production and fermentation at large scale (preferred).
-Hands-on experience in bacterial culturing, subculturing, and contamination control.
-Extensive knowledge of fermentation processes and practical experience at laboratory or pilot scale.
-Practical knowledge of growth curve analysis, inoculum standardization, and interpretation of microbial growth data.
-Familiarity with QC practices for microbial-based products (media preparation, sterility checks, record keeping).
-Understanding of biosafety, GLP, and basic regulatory compliance for biological inputs.
-Strong documentation, reporting, and data-recording skills.
-Ability to work in a production-oriented environment and coordinate with interdisciplinary group.
