4. Job Summary:
They are seeking a skilled and highly motivated Microbiologist to join their Biopesticide R&D team. The role involves conducting microbiological analysis, isolating and identifying potential microbial candidates, testing their efficacy, and scaling up production for use in sustainable agriculture practices.
5. Roles and Responsibilities:
a. Microbial Identification and Characterization:
-Isolate, culture, and identify microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, nematodes, and viruses) from various samples (soil, plant, water, etc.).
-Perform phenotypic and genotypic analysis (e.g., 16S rRNA gene sequencing, PCR, biochemical tests) to characterize microbial species. Maintain microbial cultures and establish strain libraries.
b. Development of Biopesticide Products:
-Work on the formulation and testing of biopesticides quality parameters.
-Evaluate microbial strains for efficacy in pest control (in vitro and in vivo).
-Optimize growth conditions for scaling up microbial production.
c. Microbial Culture Media Preparation:
-Design and prepare nutrient media for the growth of microbial cultures under controlled laboratory conditions.
-Ensure sterility and quality of media for reproducibility and optimal microbial growth.
-Conduct bioassays to assess the activity of biopesticide formulations against target pests.
-Monitor the stability and shelf life of microbial products under different environmental conditions.
-Conduct experiments to improve the formulation of biopesticides, including shelf-life extension and formulation enhancement.
-Stay updated with the latest research in microbiology, biopesticides, and sustainable agriculture.
6. Qualification Required:
M.Sc./M. Tech in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Agricultural Microbiology, or related fields
7. Experience:
-Minimum 2-3 years of experience in microbiology, preferably in the biopesticide industry.
-Hands-on experience with microbiological culture techniques, molecular biology techniques (PCR, gel electrophoresis, etc.), and biological assays.
-Experience with microbial fermentation processes and optimization for industrial-scale production is desirable.
