About the Department: Microbiology Department at Drug Discovery and Development Division is
NABL-accredited laboratory (MLT scope) for AYUSH products, committed to high-quality microbiological testing. Our facility offers a unique blend of regulatory compliance, applied microbiology, and research-driven experimentation work, providing professionals an opportunity to build impactful careers beyond routine diagnostics..
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
a. Microbiological Testing & Culture
b. Perform bacterial and fungal culture, isolation, identification, and enumeration as per NABL, pharmacopeial, and AYUSH regulatory guidelines.
c. Conduct microbial limit tests (MLT), pathogen testing, and sterility-related studies for AYUSH and herbal products.
d. Maintain and characterize reference strains and in-house microbial cultures under controlled conditions.
Experimental Design & Research
a. Design, plan, and execute in vitro microbiological experiments to study antimicrobial efficacy,
microbial interactions, and mode-of-action of herbal and novel formulations.
b. Develop and optimize protocols for antimicrobial, antifungal, anti-virulence, and drug resistance-related studies.
c. Explore advanced co-culture models, in-vitro, ex-vivo and in-vivo host-pathogen infections and complex biofilm/3D microbial models, where applicable.
Analytical Techniques & Documentation
a. Perform quantitative microbiological assays including CFU counts, MIC/MBC, time-kill studies, biofilm assays.
b. Maintain accurate laboratory records, data analysis and compliance documentation in line with NABL requirements.
c. Prepare technical reports, validation documents and study summaries for internal and regulatory use.
Collaboration & Innovation
a. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (in-vitro biology, in-vivo biology, formulation scientists,
pharmacologists, chemists, and quality professionals) to support product development, validation and translational research.
b. Stay updated with emerging trends in medical microbiology, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and herbal therapeutics.
Scientific Communication
a. Contribute to scientific manuscripts and presentations enabling visibility in applied and academic research domains,
b. Support knowledge dissemination and mentoring within the microbiology team.
Qualifications:
-M.Sc. / Ph.D. in Microbiology or related life sciences.
Proven hands-on experience in bacterial and fungal culture techniques.
-Working knowledge of NABL accreditation, MLT, and regulatory microbiology (AYUSH/pharma/food) is desirable but not limited.
-Experience with cell-based or microbial assays, antimicrobial testing, and data interpretation.
-Excellent analytical, documentation, and troubleshooting skills..
-Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced, compliance-driven research environment.
