Organ Mechanobiology Lab at NCBS, Bangalore is recruiting for Graduate Trainees/JRFs (2 openings)
This lab is looking for highly motivated final-year BS-MS or Master's students or recent graduates interested in exploring a research career at the interface of cell biology, developmental biology, and tissue mechanics, with the possibilty of continuing as a PhD student in the lab.
This lab uses C. elegans as a model to study how mechanical forces and biochemical signals guide organ morphogenesis and function. Also employ interdisciplinary approaches, including tissue-specific genetic manipulations, CRISPR-based knock-in/out techniques, quantitative live imaging, transcriptomics, and biophysical methods such as laser ablations, optogenetics, and microfluidics for high-throughput, long-term imaging.
Key responsibilities:
In the early stages:
- You will be trained in the basics of C. elegans handling, RNAi-mediated knock down appproaches, and imaging
- Work closely with Pl and lab members to learn techniques in cell biology, molecular biology, microscopy, and genetics
- Over time, expect you to:
Take ownership of a small independent project
Develop skills in experimental design, data analysis, and communication
Ideal candidate profile:
Prior experience in a research lab (especially with C. elegans, imaging, or cell biology, quantitative image analysis) is a plus, but not required
This lab is looking for students who are curious, committed, and excited about learning
Priority will be given to candidates who can stay for more than one year
Why join :
- As a new lab, are building from the ground up that means more room to learn, contribute ideas, and help shape culture.
