GCC Biotech is looking for a skilled Research Scientist with expertise in CRISPR, TALEN, and molecular biology to work on a project-specific basis.

1. Position- Research Scientist
2. Location: Bakrahat (Kolkata)
3. Contract: 18 months
4. Salary: ₹50k-70k
5. Key Responsibilities:
a. Design and implement CRISPR/Cas9, TALEN, or homologous recombination-based gene editing strategies for knock-in and knock-out studies.
b. Develop and optimize cell-based and in vivo models for functional genomics research.
c. Perform molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qPCR, cloning, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) for genotyping and validation.
d. Conduct functional assays to assess phenotypic changes in engineered models.
e. Analyse and interpret experimental data, troubleshoot technical issues, and optimize protocols as needed.
f. Maintain detailed documentation of experiments and contribute to scientific publications or reports.
g. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including bioinformatics, proteomics, and imaging specialists.
h. Ensure compliance with institutional biosafety and ethical guidelines for genetic research.
i.Lead a small research team, assign tasks, and ensure smooth execution of project goals.
j.Mentor and train junior researchers, interns, and technicians in laboratory techniques, best practices, and project-specific methodologies. Review and verify documentation, reports, and data generated by junior researchers.
k. Maintain detailed documentation of experiments, protocols, and results; ensure data accuracy and compliance with institutional guidelines.
6. Qualifications & Skills:
a. Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, or a related field.
b. Hands-on experience in gene editing technologies (CRISPR, TALEN, or similar).
c. Strong expertise in molecular biology techniques, including cloning, transfection, Western blotting, immunofluorescence etc.
d. Experience with bacterial culture techniques.
e. Proficiency in data analysis tools such as GraphPad Prism, ImageJ, and bioinformatics pipelines for NGS etc.
f. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
g. Excellent scientific communication and technical writing skills.
h. Experience working with Bacillus System for genetic studies.
i. Publication record in peer-reviewed journals related to gene editing.
j. Team leadership, training, and project management experience.
