2. Job Summary:
- The NGS Reporting Scientist will play a pivotal role in analysing, interpreting, and reporting next-generation sequencing (NGS) data for clinical, research, or diagnostics purposes.
- This position requires expertise in bioinformatics, genomics, and molecular biology, along with a strong attention to detail for generating precise and comprehensive reports based on NGS data.
- The NGS Reporting Scientist will work closely with both laboratory and clinical teams to ensure high-quality, actionable insights for healthcare providers, researchers, or clients.
3. Key Responsibilities:
- Process and analyse raw NGS data, including quality control, alignment, variant calling, and annotation using bioinformatics pipelines and software.
- Interpretation of Genomic Variants: Interpret genetic variants, identify clinically or research-relevant findings, and ensure accurate and relevant information is included in reports.
- Report Generation: Compile and generate clear, detailed reports based on analysed data, highlighting key findings and providing insights that are scientifically sound and clinically useful.
- Pipeline Development & Optimization: Contribute to the development, optimization, and maintenance of bioinformatics workflows to improve the accuracy and efficiency of NGS data analysis and reporting.
- Collaboration with Wet Lab and Clinical Teams: Work closely with wet lab scientists, clinicians, and other stakeholders to verify sample integrity, data accuracy, and clinical relevance of findings.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all analyses and reports adhere to established quality control and regulatory standards.
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain thorough and organized records of all data analyses, interpretations, and reporting processes.
- Research & Development: Updated on latest advancements in NGS technology, bioinformatics tools, and genomics research to continually improve reporting practices and contribute to innovative projects.
4. Qualifications:
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Genomics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in NGS data analysis and reporting, preferably in a clinical, diagnostic, or research lab setting.
- Proficiency with bioinformatics tools and NGS analysis pipelines (e.g., GATK, SAMtools, BWA, VarSeq).
- In-depth understanding of genomic variant interpretation, including experience with databases (e.g., ClinVar, COSMIC, dbSNP) and annotation tools.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex genetic data accurately.
- Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
- Effective communication skills for generating clear, concise reports and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
